Independent Oil and Gas Association of NY to Host Public Information Session Tomorrow

LAKE VIEW, NY (09/09/2009)(readMedia)-- The Independent Oil and Gas Association of New York (IOGA of NY), will host a public information session to address the environmental, scientific and economic aspects of natural gas exploration. The session will take place:

6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, September 10

SUNY Oneonta

Hunt Union, Ballroom

108 Ravine Parkway

Oneonta, NY

"Natural gas is one of the cleanest, most abundant, and affordable fuels available today," said Brad Gill, IOGA of NY executive director. "By increasing the production of this natural resource, we can improve our economy, increase tax revenues, create jobs, and bring our nation closer to energy independence. And all of this can be accomplished safely in an environmentally friendly way."

IOGA of NY speakers will include:

  • Brad Gill: Executive Director of IOGA of NY and President of Earth Energy Consultants.
  • John Holko: Secretary of the IOGA of NY Board and President of Lenape Resources, Inc.
  • John A. Conrad: Member of IOGA of NY and president and senior hydrogeologist of the Conrad Geoscience Corp.

Speakers will be available to the media before and after the presentation.

"New York has some of the most rigorous environmental regulatory requirements in the county, which have quite literally shaped our industry here," said Gill. "These regulations will likely be even tougher when the DEC completes its comprehensive environmental review. Oil and natural gas companies have been drilling for natural gas in New York for more than a hundred years and have an exceptional track record on safety and environmental compliance. This is something we do not take for granted - after all, we live, work and raise our families here too."
