Iowa Safe Schools hosts 9th Annual Governors Conference on LGBTQ Youth
Conference draws youth from all over the state
DES MOINES, IA (03/27/2014)(readMedia)-- Iowa Safe Schools will host its 9th Annual Governors Conference on LGBTQ youth drawing almost 1,000 attendees from across Iowa.

WHAT: | Founded in 2006, the Governors Conference is the largest LGBTQ youth conference in the country. Nearly 1,000 individuals from nearly 90 Iowa communities attended in 2013 including Iowa students, college students, professors, educators, counselors, administrators, policy makers, parents, faith leaders, youth-serving professionals, and those who just care about the well-being of LGBTQ youth.Featured speakers for this years conference include Eliza Byard, Executive Director of the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN); Sam Killermann,comedian and social justice advocate, and the guy behind "It’s Pronounced Metrosexual"; Iowa native, Sharon Needles, reigning season four winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race and professor on RuPaul’s Drag U. |
