ITHACA, NY (04/25/2011)(readMedia)-- The Cornell Engineering Alumni Association (CEAA) held its annual awards banquet April 14 at Cornell University.

Bayonne, N.J. resident Iriny Ekladious won a 2011 Undergraduate Research Award for her investigations on the role of cell-to-cell signaling and the tumor microenvironment on the maintenance of patient-derived brain tumor stem cells. She was nominated by Claudia Fischbach-Teschl, assistant professor of biomedical engineering. The $1,000 award recognizes the best individual research projects.

Ekladious attended Bayonne High School. She is the daughter of Ezzat and Samia Ekladious. The junior is majoring in biological and environmental engineering.

The mission of the CEAA is to promote the welfare of the College of Engineering at Cornell University and its alumni and to establish a closer relationship between the college, its students, and the alumni.
