NEW YORK, NY (10/09/2025) (readMedia)-- In response to the news that Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of a peace plan, JCRC-NY issued the following statement:
After more than two years of anguish, finally, there is hope. JCRC-NY stands with the families who have lived through this nightmare-waiting, praying, and never giving up on their loved ones.
For over two years, our community has carried the weight of October 7th, remembering the thousands of souls we lost to terrorism and war, and holding the hostages' names and faces with us every day, refusing to let the world forget them. The road ahead will be long. The hostages will need tremendous support as they heal from unimaginable trauma. But today offers the possibility of a turning point-a step toward bringing our people home and moving closer to lasting peace built on mutual respect and human dignity.
We express our profound gratitude to the President and United States government for spearheading efforts to make the hostage deal possible and end the conflict. Our appreciation extends to New York's Congressional delegation for their strong bipartisan support of this effort from the start.
Here in New York, this is a day that our Jewish community has prayed, marched, and hoped for with every fiber of our being. While our Israeli brothers and sisters have remained at the forefront of our minds, Jewish people across the city have also felt the far-reaching effects of October 7th on our streets, in our universities, our places of work, and schools. The global Jewish community is bound in this together, and we are not whole until we are all home.
