SPRINGFIELD, IL (04/01/2013)(readMedia)-- Mindi Ernst of Jacksonville, with Joint Force Headquarters, Illinois National Guard in Springfield was promoted to the rank of major March 20 at Camp Lincoln in Springfield.

Ernst enlisted into the Illinois Army National Guard in 1996. She received her commission as a second lieutenant January 2004 after completing the Illinois Army National Guard's Officer Candidate School at Camp Lincoln in Springfield.

Ernst has supported military missions and operations in Iceland and Germany. She deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006 to 2007.
