Jane Johnson to perform at the Campbellsville University noon organ recital

Jan Johnson will perform various works by composers such as Bach, Bruhns, Whitlock, Langlais, and Dupré at the Campbellsville University organ recital on Tuesday, March 26 at 12:20 p.m.

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (02/28/2019) (readMedia)-- On Tuesday, March 26, Jane Johnson, organist at Crestwood Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lexington, Ky., since 2000, will be performing in Campbellsville University's Ransdell Chapel at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, at 12:20 p.m.

Johnson will be playing works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Bruhns, Whitlock, Langlais and Dupre?.

Johnson received her Bachelor of Music in Music Education (BMME) from the University of Kentucky where she studied organ with Arnold Blackburn. She earned a Master of Music degree with an emphasis in sacred music from UK, and a Master of Arts degree with an emphasis in church music from Lexington Theological Seminary. She continues to study organ and harpsichord with Dr. Schuyler Robinson.

Johnson has been a church organist for 40 years.

Johnson is a colleague of the American Guild of Organists and also holds the Guild's Service Playing Certificate. She recently finished her second term as dean of the Lexington Chapter AGO.

When not on the organ bench, Johnson plays upright bass with the Backroom String Band and also plays Celtic harp with the Heartland Harp Ensemble. She is retired from the UK College of Fine Arts, where she was director of student affairs.

Johnson and her husband, Bill, spend their spare time touring the back roads in one of their antique cars.
