Jefferson Associate Professor Dr. Mary Lou Manning and Former Student Dr. Dolores Grosso Co-Author Article

PHILADELPHIA, PA (02/15/2011)(readMedia)-- Mary Lou Manning, PhD, CRNP, Associate Professor and Director, Doctor of Nursing Practice Program at Thomas Jefferson University's School of Nursing, of Lafayette Hill, PA and Dolores Grosso, DNP, CRNP, Senior Nurse Practitioner, Jefferson Medical Oncology/Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, published "Doctor of Nursing Practice Students Advocating for Health Care Access, Quality, and Reform: From the Virtual Classroom to Capitol Hill" in the Journal of Nursing Education, Vol. 50, Issue 1, January 2011.

The article resulted from an assignment in Dr. Manning's online Health and Social Policy course. Dr. Grosso, a 2009 graduate of the DNP program, was a student in the class. The assignment involved a trip to Capitol Hill to meet with congressional representatives regarding comparative effectiveness research, with the goal for students to influence the national healthcare reform movement.
