Warminster Resident and Jefferson School of Nursing Student Published in ADVANCE

PHILADELPHIA, PA (07/19/2013)(readMedia)-- Caitlin McAllister, a FACT student at Thomas Jefferson University's Jefferson School of Nursing, was published in ADVANCE, a prestigious newsmagazine for nursing and other healthcare professionals. McAllister's article, "From Patient to BSN," discussed her experience as a patient receiving a kidney transplant and how it has impacted her as a future healthcare professional.

"In the world that we live in today, hearing so many bad things that are going on, it is good to hear of any success story, no matter what kind it is," said McAllister. "Hearing of others overcoming obstacles to achieve their goals, which I know we can all relate to, can at times be very empowering. I would love nothing more than to move into a position, where I can use my personal experiences to make a difference."

Although it has been over 22 years since McAllister first became ill, she still relates deeply with current patients. In addition to completing JSN's challenging FACT program, she also works as a sitter for the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). McAllister graduated from JSN in May 2013.
