Josh Grube Wins in National Literary Magazine Competition
Parkland College Radio/TV Major Earns 3rd for Poetry in Campus Magazine
CHAMPAIGN, IL (10/06/2011)(readMedia)-- Parkland College student Josh Grube of Savoy, Illinois, was recently named among top winners in a national literary magazine competition sponsored by the Community College Humanities Association (CCHA).
Grube won the Third Place/Poetry Division award for his work entitled "Mise En Abyme." A staff member for Parkland's Prospectus newspaper and IMAGES magazine, Grube was notified of his award on September 27. He will receive a framed certificate, and his honor will be announced on the CCHA website at www.ccha-assoc.org.
Grube is a second-year radio/TV broadcasting major whose award-winning work appears in the 2011 edition of IMAGES, Parkland's student literary and visual arts magazine. He calls his poem a self-reflective interpretation of the title's literal meaning, "the visual experience of standing between two mirrors, seeing an infinite reproduction of one's image." The CCHA, made up of humanities faculty and administrators, was founded in 1979 to preserve and strengthen the humanities in two-year colleges.
