Judith Huntington New President of The College of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (07/14/2011)(readMedia)-- On July 1, 200 Judith Huntington assumed the position as the 13th president of The College of New Rochelle after completing a full year as President-elect. President Huntington joined CNR as Vice President for Financial Affairs in 2001, taking full responsibility for all fiscal issues involving the College.

During her tenure at CNR, Huntington has amassed an impressive list of accomplishments which include overseeing the construction and financing of the College's $28 million LEED rated Wellness Center, maintaining an investment grade Baa3 rating from Moody's Investor Services, and improving the College's financial strength through conservative spending, prudent financial management and investment practices. As the President-elect, she has spent the past year shadowing past President Stephen J. Sweeny, meeting with the Board of Trustees, governance groups, students, faculty, instructional staff and alumnae/i of the College.

Of her new appointment, Ms. Huntington says, "I arrived on campus this morning with a feeling of great joy, tremendous pride and a clear sense of optimism for the future of The College of New Rochelle. Huntington's experience includes more than 25 years in the financial arena. Prior to joining CNR, she worked for 15 years with the accounting firm KPMG LLP serving as audit senior manager in KPMG's metro New York higher education, research, and other not-for-profit practice, providing audit and accounting services. In addition to serving higher education clients she also worked in the firm's banking and SEC practice and was an instructor and recruiter in the firm.

Among one of the youngest in KPMG to be selected to serve on a sponsored internship/fellowship at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in Norwalk, CT, she spent two years working to develop the accounting standards that govern the preparation of financial statements prepared by not-for-profit organizations; FASB Statement No. 116, "Accounting for Contributions Received and Contributions Made," and FASB Statement No. 117, "Financial Statements for Not-for-Profit Organizations."

She is a former member of the Yorktown Central School District Board of Education, serves on the Lower Hudson Valley Catholic Consortium, and is a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education's evaluation team. In 2008 Huntington received an Apex Advocacy Award from the Westchester County Association for her participation on the Association's Property Tax Alliance. Huntington is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor of business administration degree from Pace University.

Huntington and her family are residents of New Milford, CT. Her husband of 25 years, Brad Huntington, is the President of Tri-State Engineering. They have two children, Amanda, a junior at Sacred Heart University majoring in Graphic Arts, and Bradley Jr., a senior at Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers, NY. They are parishioners of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield, CT.

The first Catholic college for women in New York State, The College of New Rochelle was founded in 1904 by the Ursuline Order. Today, it comprises the all-women School of Arts & Sciences, and three schools which admit women and men: the School of New Resources (for adult learners), the School of Nursing and the Graduate School.
