Kevin Burke to receive The Business Council's 2013 Corning Award for Excellence

ALBANY, NY (09/09/2013)(readMedia)-- Kevin Burke, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Consolidated Edison, Inc. has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious Corning Award for Excellence by The Business Council of New York State, Inc.

The award, sponsored by Corning Incorporated, Inc., will be presented to Burke on Wednesday, September 25, at The Business Council's 2013 Annual Meeting at The Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, NY.

Burke serves on The Business Council's Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He served as chair of The Council's board from 2008 to 2011.

G. Thomas Tranter, Jr., president of Corning Enterprises and a vice chair of The Business Council Board of Directors, will present the award to Burke.

Prior to serving as chairman, president and CEO of Consolidated Edison, Inc., Burke was president and chief operating officer of the company's principal subsidiary, Consolidated Edison of Company of New York, Inc., from 2000 to 2005. Burke also served as president of Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc., another subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc., starting in July 1999.

In addition to leading Consolidated Edison, Inc.'s Board of Directors and serving on The Business Council's Board of Directors, Burke serves on the Board of Directors of the following organizations: the American Gas Association; The Economic Club of New York; Edison Electric Institute; Honeywell International, Inc.; Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City; New York State Energy Research & Development Authority; the New York Botanical Garden; the Partnership for New York City; and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
