Kincaid Soldier promoted to Chief Warrant Officer Two

SPRINGFIELD, IL (09/30/2014)(readMedia)-- Thomas Watson of Kincaid, Illinois, assigned to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) was promoted to the rank of chief warrant officer two during a promotion ceremony at Camp Lincoln in Springfield, Illinois, Sept. 29.

Watson enlisted in the Illinois National Guard's 3637th Maintenance Company as an automotive technician in November 1997. In 2004, he was hired full time with JFHQ as an administrative noncommissioned officer.

From August 2012 to May 2013, Watson deployed to Afghanistan as a battle captain with the Bilateral Embedded Staff Team A10 embedded with the Polish 12th Mechanized Brigade.

Early in 2014, Watson accepted a position with JFHQ as the force integration readiness analyst and graduated Warrant Officer Candidate School. He is responsible for overseeing the Illinois Army National Guard's current and future force structure while ensuring the state remains a ready and resilient force through proper readiness reporting.
