SAVANNAH, GA (12/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Kissimmee native Sean Metcalf, 2007 graduate of Celebration High School and 2011 graphic design graduate from the Savannah College of Art and Design, calls himself a "designer, thinker and American dreamer." He believes that he can create change through design. So, with partner Ben Lebovitz, he has launched a new line of clothing called Young&United with the express purpose of reviving the American Spirit. He hopes to get the line moving forward with a little help from his friends – and the on-line fundraising tool Kickstarter.
"Young&United is a 100% US-Made apparel and goods company. We want to supply the American Dreamers of today and tomorrow with the highest quality, made-in-America products to show that this generation is Young&United," says Sean. "From the finest quality in men's and women's fashion, to leather-crafted goods, and pro-American artworks - everything is made right here in the US."
"But in order to produce these items in the US at the best quality, we need to fulfill a minimum quantity with our manufacturers," says Sean. "If we reach our funding goal, we'll be putting everyone behind this production to work including our manufacturers, screen printers, and designers."
"These days, it seems like there's more that drives us apart than there is that keeps us together as a country. The 99% vs. the 1% - blue vs. red," says Sean. "But with this line, we hope to change that. We hope to bring light on how US manufacturing supports local economy and America's rebuild."
Sean became interested in design at Celebration High School. "While in high school, I took computer graphics classes -- this was really my first introduction to art and it helped me discover a new passion. I've always been a big believer in teamwork and the idea that together we can achieve more. I played a lot of sports growing up from high school up through college where I finished as an All-American on SCAD's golf team. There was a strong fellowship on each team I played on – rise or fall, we were always there for each other. These experiences have taught me that the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts."
