KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (09/24/2010)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling on the Northeastern Extension to be prepared for intermittent, single-lane closures between Mahoning Valley (Exit #74) and Pocono (Exit #95) starting tomorrow through Tuesday (Sept. 25-28) near the Hickory Run Service Plaza (milepost A86.3), Carbon County.
Single-lane closures will be implemented southbound from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday (Sept. 25) and northbound from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday (Sept. 26) and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday (Sept. 27) and Tuesday (Sept. 28).
Crews will be working on the overhead bridge and ramps that carry traffic into and out of the Hickory Run Service Plaza. Motorists should stay alert for slow-moving construction vehicles or stopped traffic when approaching the area until the single-lane patterns are lifted. The contractor's schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
Motorists are urged obey posted speed limits, and use extra caution when approaching and entering the construction zone between milepost A84-A88. Speed limits will be enforced and fines increased.
