KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (09/27/2010)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling on the Turnpike's Northeastern Extension to be prepared for intermittent, nighttime lane closures between Mid-County (Exit #20) and Lansdale (Exit #31). State Police will be conducting traffic paces and stoppages southbound starting at 7 p.m. and northbound at 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 28-30.
Southbound single-lane closures with brief traffic paces will be implemented between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Motorists approaching the work zone south of Lansdale (Exit #31) should anticipate slow-moving or stopped traffic.
Northbound single-lane closures will begin at 10 p.m., and State Police will conduct multiple traffic paces until the Turnpike reopens at 6 a.m. Periodic stoppages of up to 15 minutes may also occur during pacing operations.
The traffic restrictions allow the contractor to continue installing steel beams on the bridge that carries Morris Road (State Route 2001) over the Turnpike at milepost A27.2 in Upper Gwynedd and Worcester Townships, Montgomery County.
Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. motorists should be prepared for slow-moving or stopped traffic when approaching the construction zone located between milepost A26-A28. All work is weather permitting and could be rescheduled.
Motorists traveling the Northeastern Extension near the bridge at milepost A27.20 should anticipate reduced speeds, lane closures, stoppages and overnight road closures when approaching the work area. Within the work zone, speed limits will be reduced to 55 mph and 40 mph when the lights on the active work-zone signs are flashing.
