Oglethorpe senior forward Lauren Ransom has been named the Southern Athletic Assocation's Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the league office for her outstanding performance in the Stormy Petrels' road sweep of Centre and Sewanee over the weekend. It marked the second weekly award of Ransom's career and the fourth time that a member of the team won the award during the 2018-19 season.
Ransom enjoyed an outstanding weekend, leading the Petrels to a pair of victories on the road in conference play. She averaged 22.5 points, 10 rebounds and two steals per game over the two contests, converting at a 60-percent rate from the field in the process. She scored a career-high 30 points on Sunday against Sewanee, going 12-of-16 from the field and grabbing 13 rebounds. She's currently fourth in the league in rebounding (7.1 per game) and third in blocks (1.3 per game).
