ANNVILLE, PA (01/20/2012)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's top music students will perform vocal and instrumental solos in a competition to be named a featured artist in the March 18 Concerto-Aria/LVC Symphony Orchestra concert. The Concerto-Aria competition will be Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. in Lutz Hall of the Blair Music Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
Private lesson instructors nominate their most talented musicians for the competition. The student nominees then prepare an 8-10 minute audition piece to present to a panel of faculty judges. The winning musicians – vocal or instrumental – will perform that piece with the LVC Symphony Orchestra in its upcoming concert.
The Concerto-Aria competition is an auditory delight full of musical diversity as LVC student singers and instrumentalists present their very best singing and playing abilities.
The Music Department at Lebanon Valley College was founded in 1866 and is one of the largest departments on campus. It houses programs that provide wide ranging opportunities for performances and skills needed to succeed. Music business, music recording technology, music education, masters of music education, and a host of music bachelor of art degree offerings overlap, without ever losing the focus of music being the central essence of all programs.
