SPARTANBURG, SC (04/28/2010)(readMedia)-- Wofford College alumnus Linda (Lindy) Lauren Bunch was accorded Wofford College's highest academic honor Thursday, April 22, when she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
Bunch graduated cum laude from Wofford College in May 2009 with a bachelor's degree in art history and history, a minor in German studies, and a concentration in gender studies. She also completed a Community of Scholars research project on the portraiture of Mary I of England. Her graduation honors included membership in Delta Phi Alpha German national honor society, the Currie Spivey Award for excellence in volunteerism, and the Heart of the Terrier Award. As a student, she was a key leader in the development of the sustainability program at Wofford, and in the year since her graduation, she has been a member of the Wofford Campus Ministry staff. She continues to work as an effective organizer and activist through collations such as Spartanburg Educators of Empowered Communities. Bunch plans to spend the 2010-2011 academic year as a program facilitator with CIEE Study Abroad in Khon Kaen, Thailand. Parent: Linda G. Bunch (Columbia, S.C. 29223).
Twenty-nine Wofford College students and recent graduates were initiated as members-in-course during the ceremony that marked the 69th anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford.
