Linden, NJ Student Participates in 3rd Annual Student Research & Service Symposium
RIVERDALE, NY (05/14/2013)(readMedia)-- The College of Mount Saint Vincent will host its 3rd Annual Student Research & Service Symposium on Tuesday, May 14th. This event showcases the outstanding original research and service learning projects that Mount students complete every year.
"Our students are one of the truest measures of excellence we have as a college" says Dr. Omar Nagi, Director of Center for Undergraduate Research. "This is just one event where we annually celebrate our confidence in that measure."
Under the direction and mentorship of dedicated faculty members, students undertake original research projects in the sciences and the humanities. Much of the work is then presented at regional and national undergraduate research and graduate professional conferences.
This year's symposium will feature the research of Michael Delmont '13 (Linden, NJ) who will present his honors thesis titled "A Robust Reform Agenda: Maximizing the United Nations' Effectiveness as an Actor in the Twenty-First Century International System". This research outlines an ambitious reform agenda for the United Nations that will help to maximize its effectiveness in the international system, and thus enable it to contribute in a range of meaningful ways to global peace and international security. Mr. Delmont has been a member of the College's Honors Program and interned at the Irish Voice newspaper in New York City.
