CAZENOVIA, NY (04/11/2012)(readMedia)-- The Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall will host the annual Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibitions from now through May 1. The exhibition will include work by visual communications, studio art, photography and interior design degree candidates from Cazenovia College's Division of Art and Design,

Lisa Marie Goudey, of Lenox, Mass., is a senior majoring in studio art, specializing in photography, with a minor in art history. Her exhibition, titled Vanity, is scheduled for April 26 to 30, with a reception on April 26 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Goudey was born in Rochester, N.Y., and moved to Lenox, Mass., when she was three years old. Though not as interested in the arts as a child, she was unknowingly being inspired by the artistically rich hills of the Berkshires. Goudey fell in love with photography in her third year at Lenox Memorial High School, under the wing of photography teacher Karen Romeo-Leger and mentor Lisa Vollmer. While receiving strong support from her family, Goudey has been studying photography for four years at Cazenovia College and will be graduating this May.

In her artist's statement, Goudey writes, "As a religious person, I know that vanity is one of the seven deadly sins. However, as a member of American society, I am judged by the way I look. Caught between these two realities, I wanted to see what others do to stay beautiful. The photographs displayed in this series are of everyday people primping in a mirror. By using a two-way mirror, I provide a barrier for my subjects to offer a more "comfortable environment" and to allow them to view themselves privately. These photographs are a collection of the American people and their quest for beauty."

The Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall, 6 Sullivan St., is on the corner of Sullivan and Seminary streets in Cazenovia. Hours during the academic year are: Monday through Thursday, 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Friday, 1-4 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 2-6 p.m. Summer hours vary.
