In Monroe County alone, there are more than 15,000 kids living with pediatric asthma and nearly 50,000 adults who suffer from adult asthma. Another 25,000 people suffer from chronic bronchitis and more than 9,000 people are living with emphysema. All of these groups are at greater risk of adverse effects from air pollution.
