RAYNHAM, MASS. (05/15/2012)(readMedia)-- Whether they walk on two legs or four, every one of your car's passengers deserves the same level of protection in the event of a crash. That is just one fact that Mastria Subaru and the Brockton Blue Dog Shelter want to remind dog owners of during their upcoming Vehicle and Dog Safety Event. On Saturday, May 19, canine owners are encouraged to visit the Raynham, Massachusetts Subaru dealer between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to learn the best ways to keep their four-legged friends safe and happy during travel.
Partnering with the Brockton Blue Dog Shelter, Mastria Subaru will host demonstrations for local Massachusetts Subaru owners on how to properly secure a dog in their vehicle using a dog-safety harness. For $30, owners can also have their dog microchipped with the presentation of a current rabies vaccination certificate. Complimentary food and refreshments will be served.
"With summer fast approaching more drivers, and in particular Subaru owners, will be taking their pets out and about to local parks and on vacations," said Chris Dunn, general sales manager of Mastria Subaru. "Our goal is to remind dog owners that properly harnessing their pet in their vehicle will not only help protect it in the event of a crash, but will help protect other occupants in the car as well."
What: Mastria Subaru's Vehicle and Dog Safety Event
When: Saturday, May 19, 11 a.m. EDT – 2 p.m. EDT
Where: Mastria Subaru, 1255 New State Highway, Raynham, MA
How: Call 508-802-9347 to sign up. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Event attendees are welcome to peruse Mastria Subaru's selection of dog-friendly vehicles, including the Subaru Legacy, Outback and Forester. While its sizeable interior makes it suitable for doggy transport, the 2012 Subaru Legacy was also recently deemed a very accommodating ride for humans when it was named one of the 10 Most Comfortable Cars Under $30,000 by Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com.
Kbb.com honored the Subaru sedan for its body-cradling seats, clear visibility and easy-to-navigate controls. In addition to those standard amenities, Legacy shoppers can also opt for a 10-way-adjustable heated driver's seat for maximum comfort. Other available options include a voice-activated navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity and a premium Harman Kardon sound system.
"The Legacy is perfect for most pets of average size, and the Forester works well for larger dogs," added Dunn. "When it comes time to choose a vehicle, buyers should consider the needs of every human or animal passenger, and you can't go wrong with a Subaru. After all, if you've seen any of their canine commercials you'll know Subarus are dog tested and dog approved."
Subaru's dog-centric ads, featuring shelter dog actors and actresses, can be viewed at http://www.subaru.com/dogs. Visitors to the site will also find a MapMyDOGWALK App for iPhones, as well as a Dog Park locator and a link to the Subaru-sponsored Dogbook Facebook app.
