Robert O. Witty Credit Union Association of New York’s 2010 Hall of Fame Inductee

ALBANY, NY (06/16/2010)(readMedia)-- Dryden resident and CFCU Federal Credit Union CEO Robert O. Witty was inducted into the Credit Union Association of New York's Hall of Fame at their annual Convention held recently in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Hall of Fame honors are awarded to individuals who have devoted their lives to the philosophy and success of the credit union movement, and have had a significant impact on credit unions at the local, state or national level.

"Bob is an energetic leader. His dedication throughout his 40 plus years at CFCU has a positive impact on the stature and growth of the credit union," said William J. Mellin, president and CEO of the Association. "Throughout those years, Bob has mentored numerous employees, developing future leaders in the credit union movement, many of whom have gone on to become executives at other credit unions throughout the country."

Witty began his career with CFCU Federal Credit Union in 1969 as an assistant manager when the credit union had only one office, 2,000 members and $3 million in assets.

When he took over as CEO 15 years later, the credit union had grown to $39 million in assets with 16,000 members. Under Witty's leadership, the credit union grew rapidly to its current state of more than $600 million in assets, serving close to 60,000 members. Witty plans to retire later this year.

CFCU Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1953. As of Dec. 31, 2009, the credit union had $630 million in assets and nearly 60,000 members. For more information about CFCU FCU, please visit www.mycfcu.com.
