Local Professional Inducted Into Hall of Fame
ALBANY, NY (08/07/2009)(readMedia)-- Sodus resident Richard K. Moore was inducted into the Credit Union Association of New York's Hall of Fame at their annual Convention held recently in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Hall of Fame honors are awarded to individuals who have devoted their lives to the philosophy and success of the credit union movement, and have had a significant impact on credit unions at the local, state or national level.
"James has been and continues to be an active participant at Reliant Community Federal Credit Union," said William J. Mellin, president and CEO of the Association. "His dedication throughout those 30 plus years has had a positive impact on the stature and growth of his credit union."
Moore was a founding member of Reliant Community Federal Credit Union. He joined their board of directors 15 years later in 1985 and has diligently served as board chairman since 1986. He is also a member of the credit union's Supervisory Committee.
Whether at the credit union, or throughout his 28-year career as a teacher and school business administrator for the Sodus Central School District, Moore has always lived the credit union "people helping people" philosophy. He stays current with credit issues, regularly attending conferences and other training programs. In 1997, he received the designation of Certified Credit Union Director (CCUD) from the Credit Union Executives Society. Moore is also an active member of the National Association of Credit Union Chairmen (NACUC) and is known for going out of his way for staff and members of the credit union. According to Reliant Community FCU's president and CEO, Pamela Heald, "He often writes personal notes to our staff praising them for their work and their service to members. When a staff person receives a hand-written note from Dick, believe me, it is a big deal."
Reliant Community Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1970. As of 12/31/08, the credit union had over $269 million in assets and nearly 3,500 members. For more information about Reliant Community FCU, please visit www.reliantcu.com.
The Credit Union Association of New York has served as the trade association for the state's credit unions for 91 years. It is the fourth largest league in the country. New York credit unions have assets of more than $44 billion and 4.3 million members. To learn more about the Association, visit www.cuany.org.
