Local Resident JSN Dean Published in National Publications

PHILADELPHIA, PA (05/10/2013)(readMedia)--  Beth Ann Swan, PhD, CRNP, FAAN, Dean and Professor at Jefferson School of Nursing, published an op-ed article in The Philadelphia Inquirer on Sunday, April 28. A second op-ed was printed in The Los Angeles Times on Thursday, May 9. Both articles discussed the challenges transitioning to post-hospital medical care, while sharing her personal experience when her husband suffered a stroke while in another city.

"I thought my training and access to resources would aid in managing my husband's care," said Swan. "Instead, our experience showed me the many flaws in the world of medical 'care coordination' and 'transition management.' And it made me more concerned about how anyone can deal with the demands put on them by our healthcare system."

Swan was previously published Health Affairs and The Washington Post; in addition, she was a guest on Radio Times with Marty Moss-Coane.
