Hobart Rhinehart, Credit Union Association of New York’s 2010 Volunteer of the Year

ALBANY, NY (07/07/2010)(readMedia)-- Cattaraugus resident Hobart Rhinehart was named a 2010 Outstanding Volunteer in the less than $50 million asset category by the Credit Union Association of New York at their Annual Meeting and Convention held recently in Cooperstown, N.Y.

The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes individuals who exemplify commitment to a credit union or to the New York credit union movement.

"Volunteers like Hobart are an essential part of what makes credit unions uniquely able to help members build a better financial future," said William J. Mellin, the Association's president/CEO.

In 1977, Rhinehart joined a group of fellow teachers in contributing $5 each to start CCSE Federal Credit Union. He also volunteered to serve as its board treasurer-a role he still has today.

A true believer in the credit union philosophy, Rinehart regularly attends functions in support of the credit union movement. He believes in giving the best service available to the members of his credit union and often suggests programs or practices to enhance member service. Rinehart is also committed to supporting the staff at CCSE FCU, whether he's questioning the impact new programs or services might have on them or sending flowers to employees on "appreciation" holidays to acknowledge a job well done.

As the longest serving board member of CCSE FCU, Rinehart continues to exemplify and advance the credit union "people helping people" philosophy.

CCSE Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1977. As of Dec. 31, 2009, the credit union had over $22 million in assets and more than 4,000 members. For more information about CCSE FCU, please visit www.ccseonline.com.

The Credit Union Association of New York has served as the trade association for the state's credit unions for 93 years. New York credit unions have assets of more than $50 billion and 4.4 million members. To learn more about the Association, visit www.cuany.org.
