HOUGHTON, MI (06/04/2013)(readMedia)-- The Women's Leadership Institute (WLI) at Michigan Technological University is designed for high school juniors and helps young women discover and develop traits to grow as leaders.
Among those chosen to attend this year were Ali Farraher and Katie Gabrick from Mahtomedi High School. Ali's parents are Beverly and Kevin Farraher from White Bear Lake, and Katie's parents are Melissa and Steve Runkel from Mahtomedi.
The WLI features interactive programming to help students develop a leadership vision and life goals and connect those goals to choosing a major and college. WLI also assists women in better understanding personal integrity and values and developing skills to begin to make a difference in the lives of others.
WLI participants meet others from across the state and region, experience residence hall life, and interact with Michigan Tech student mentors.
