Local credit union leader Ann Hynes named NYCUA board treasurer

Ann Hynes, president/CEO of SPX Federal Credit Union, has been named treasurer of the New York Credit Union Association's board of directors. Hynes officially assumed her new role June 14 at NYCUA's Annual Meeting.

NYCUA's board consists of 11 volunteer directors representing credit unions in three asset categories: up to $25 million, $25 million-$100 million and more than $100 million. Hynes is currently serving a three-year term in the $25 million-$100 million asset category.

She has served on the board since 2007 and previously held the position of board secretary.

"Ann Hynes provides the board with a unique combination of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm for the credit union movement," said NYCUA President and CEO William J. Mellin. "We are grateful to have such a passionate leader serving as our board treasurer."

In addition to her work on the board of directors, Hynes also serves on NYCUA's executive and governmental affairs committees.

The New York Credit Union Association has served as the trade association for the state's credit unions for 98 years.
