Long Island Students Participate in 3rd Annual Student Research & Service Symposium

RIVERDALE, NY (05/14/2013)(readMedia)--  The College of Mount Saint Vincent will host its 3rd Annual Student Research & Service Symposium on Tuesday, May 14th. This event showcases the outstanding original research and service learning projects that Mount students complete every year.

"Our students are one of the truest measures of excellence we have as a college" says Dr. Omar Nagi, Director of Center for Undergraduate Research. "This is just one event where we annually celebrate our confidence in that measure."

Under the direction and mentorship of dedicated faculty members, students undertake original research projects in the sciences and the humanities. Much of the work is then presented at regional and national undergraduate research and graduate professional conferences.

This year's symposium will feature the following research projects:

• Kristina De Leon '13 (Bay Shore, NY) will present her honors thesis titled "The importance of prenatal care and health teaching and its effects on neonatal health and development"

• Bernadette Bingham '13 (Massapequa, NY) will present her honors thesis titled "The effect of music therapy on burn patients"

• Danielle DeVivo '13 (West Hempstead, NY) will present her honors thesis titled "The Effects of Diet Supplementation on Crohn's Disease"
