WINDSOR, CT (04/29/2011)(readMedia)-- The Loomis Chaffee Chapter of the Cum Laude Society inducted 37 seniors on April 28, honoring their academic achievement as top scholars in the Class of 2011. Longtime English teacher Jane Archibald delivered the Cum Laude address at the induction ceremony, attended by the student body, the faculty, and the families of the honorees. The annual gathering celebrates the new inductees, representing the top 20 percent, scholastically, of the senior class, and is a way of acknowledging that "life with dedication to a cause is a richer and far better life," Archibald said.
Young scholars at Loomis Chaffee and in secondary schools across the United States, Europe, and Asia are elected to the society each year. Incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 1906, The Cum Laude Society's purpose is to promote learning and sound scholarship in secondary schools – a mission it seeks to accomplish through its recognition and honoring of academic excellence at the secondary level. Seniors inducted into the Cum Laude Society include:
David Fischer from Loudonville NY.
