NEW YORK, NY (05/12/2011)(readMedia)-- The American Lung Association in New York will hold its Fight For Air Walk on Saturday, May 21 at Battery Park in New York City to help raise money in the fight for healthy lungs and clean air. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the Walk starts at 10 a.m. There is still time to register for the Walk and sponsorships are still being accepted. The Lung Association expects to have hundreds of participants in this year's walk.
"With New York City's smokefree parks & beaches law taking effect on May 23, we have lots of reasons to celebrate healthier air at this year's walk, said Irwin Berlin MD, board chair of the American Lung Association in New York. "Still our work is far from over. There are an estimated 2.5 million New Yorkers who suffer from lung disease. The money raised at our walk will fund the research, education and advocacy that we need in order to prevent lung disease and improve lung health."
The Lung Association appreciates the support of its sponsors of this year's Walk: ABC Channel 7, Clear Channel Radio, the New York Post, Genentech and EveryoneBreathe.com.
Those interested in walking can sign up as an individual or form a team of walkers. There is a $10 registration fee for adults. Children under 18 can register for free on the day of the Walk. Visit our website to register now.
