PEABODY, MASS. (07/17/2012)(readMedia)-- As an ardent car collector with a charitable personality, Bud Lyon, the late co-founder of the Lyon-Waugh Auto Group, was an avid fan of the North Shore Concours d'Elegance. Now in its third year, the prestigious oceanfront car show raises money for scholarships at Endicott College, and Lyon-Waugh will honor Mr. Lyon's legacy by supporting the event again this summer as a Gold Sponsor.
Taking place on Sunday, July 29 at the Misselwood Estate on the Endicott College campus in Beverly, Mass., the North Shore Concours d'Elegance will feature a judged concours field with pre-registered classic automobiles, as well as a collector's car parking area that will showcase up to 100 additional vehicles. Beyond the appeal of viewing antique cars alongside the picturesque coast, the gathering also offers art and fashion shows, musical entertainment, and a fancy hat competition that harkens back to the original European concours events.
"Our support of the North Shore Concours d'Elegance means a little bit extra this year as we honor Bud's memory," said Warren Waugh, co-founder of the Lyon-Waugh Auto Group, which includes Acura of Peabody, BMW of Peabody, Audi of Nashua, Porsche of Nashua, MINI of Bedford, MINI of Peabody and Land Rover Peabody. "Last year, we saw everything from a 1954 Bugatti A6 GCS Barchetta to a 1910 Oakland 24 Roadster, and I'm sure this year's collection will be filled with more rare models that Bud would have loved."

While the majority of the models featured in the North Shore Concours d'Elegance have no modern successor, Lyon-Waugh dealership Porsche of Nashua offers an all-new version of a classic car in the form of the 2012 Porsche 911. Now in its seventh generation since its introduction in 1963, the all-new Porsche 911 continues to set the bar by which other sports cars are measured and still bears the distinctive swooping design of its forefathers.
"The 2012 Porsche 911 has new levels of power and handling that would have been unimaginable when most cars competing in the concours were produced, but its classic style can fit right in alongside them," added Waugh. "Ninety percent of the new generation's components are new or significantly altered, but when you look at it, the car is unmistakably a 911."
