Macarons or Macaroon Bakers Compete for the Title

DES MOINES, IA (08/28/2023) (readMedia)-- Dawn Shaw of Pella won first place and a $50 cash award in the Macarons category of the Macarons or Macaroons competition judged Saturday, August 19, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

Diane Rauh of Des Moines won first place and a $50 cash award in the Macaroons category.

Entries were judged on taste, technique and presentation.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
