TUCUMCARI, NM (09/23/2011)(readMedia)-- The Mesalands Community College's Rodeo Team performed exceedingly well at the first Grand Canyon Regional Rodeo of the year on September 16-17, 2011 at the Quay County Fairgrounds. The Mesalands Men's Rodeo Team set a new Mesalands record, earning 880 points, the most points earned at a single rodeo. The Men's Team finished in second place. The Women's Team came in fourth place at the rodeo with 220 points. The Women's Team also set a Mesalands record, with the most women competing in the short round at a single rodeo.
Freshman Macy Fuller of Clarkston, WA, placed in both rounds of goat tying and finished the average in third place.
"We had students make it to the short go-rounds in every event except the bull riding, that's probably the best we ever did!" said C.J. Aragon, Mesalands Intercollegiate Rodeo Coach.
The Mesalands Rodeo Team will compete at Cochise College in Douglas, AZ this weekend.
