ROTTERDAM, NY (12/09/2011)(readMedia)-- Maple Ski Ridge is giving back to Schalmont students who were displaced or lost belongings during the floods that ravaged Rotterdam Junction in an effort to bring joy to families during a tough holiday season. Maple ski is offering a ski or snowboarding season passes to children and families who were affected by the flood, Parents or guardians are encouraged to contact Maple Ski Ridge at 518-381-4700.

"We feel terrible abut the people and children affected by the floods, we want to do anything to support our community and the children to ensure they have a positive holiday and winter season, said Kate Michener Marketing/ Special Events Coordinator at Maple Ski Ridge." "Schalmont is our School district, we have had a long standing after school program with Jefferson elementary, and have become the winter place to go on Friday nights. Our after school program and weekend programs have welcomed thousands of children as they come to learn on the rolling Rotterdam hills. We know some of our communities children and their families had some major setbacks this year, that is why we didn't give it a second thought to make sure families from the Junction could come over with free passes to ski or snowboard. This is the least we could do to try to help children and families through what they are going through, especially around the holidays. This offer even extends to families with children who have never been on skies or a snowboard in an effort to be a bright spot in hearts and minds as they battle a tough year. This is our way of giving them all a big Maple Ski Ridge hug, sending them up the hill to give them a break to enjoy an awesome winter activity."

Maple Ski Ridge has been active in the community for over 4 decades now, each year they focus on an effort to ensure struggling families have the community support needed to have food on the table long after the holiday season. In a continued effort with the Regional Food Bank they have started a food drive to increase food donations over the holiday season , Maple Ski Ridge encourages donations all the time, but each Tuesday we offer the BOGO lift ticket special. We ask everyone to bring 5 canned goods to the admission counter each Tuesday to receive a Free lift ticket with they purchase a lift ticket.
