Marietta Resident Ryan Meehan Inducted Into Oglethorpe University's Athletic Hall of Fame

ATLANTA, GA (04/18/2013)(readMedia)-- Marietta resident Ryan Meehan, a 2003 graduate of Oglethorpe University, will be inducted into the university's Athletic Hall of Fame during Alumni Weekend, April 19-21, 2013 in recognition of his impressive undergraduate baseball career.

While he played for the Stormy Petrels, Meehan started every game he played even during his freshman year. Ryan was named Oglethorpe Rookie of the Year in 2000 and Team MVP in both 2001 and 2003. He helped lead the Petrels to the SCAC East Championship in 2002 and is currently second in SCAC history in career saves (15). Ryan currently holds the Oglethorpe career record for saves (15) and assists (456) and is second in career hits (191). In addition, Ryan ranks in the top six in doubles, triples, stolen bases, runs scored, total bases, lowest ERA, games finished, at bats, games played and double plays turned. He was selected captain by his teammates during his junior and senior years.

Oglethorpe University was founded in 1835 and enrolls 1,100 students representing 34 states and 28 countries. Oglethorpe is a member of the Annapolis Group, an organization of America's most selective liberal arts institutions. Princeton Review named Oglethorpe a Best Southeastern College, ranking it in four national top-20 lists (Professors Get High Marks, Classroom Discussion Encouraged, Lots of Race/Class Interaction and Best College Theatre).
