Media Advisory: Slingerlands Elementary School Pupils Learn about Online Safety

ALBANY, NY (06/03/2011)(readMedia)-- Third-, fourth- and fifth-graders at the Slingerlands Elementary School will receive lessons on Internet safety from state and federal cyber security experts as part of a campaign to increase the national level on online safety.

Volunteers from the New York State Office of Cyber Security and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will be speaking with pupils about cyberbullying, cyber ethics and safe online behavior. The 20-40 minute talks are geared to the student's level. These cyber experts will be demonstrating the classroom component of the national Stop.Think. Connect. campaign called C-SAVE (Cyber Security Awareness Volunteer Education program).

Media representatives must report to and sign-in at the Principal's Office. Media will then be escorted to the classrooms where C-SAVE volunteers are speaking with the pupils. Media representatives are asked to respect the academic atmosphere of the school.
