Zeldin to Host Congressional Efficiency Fair to Discuss Congress' 9% Approval Rating, End Congress' Unearned 5- Week Vacation And Lower Home Heating Costs
Free Large and Small Tire Gauges Are Available Not Only To Demonstrate Opponent's Long Term and Short Term Energy Plan, but Also To Allow People To Inflate Their Tires And Get Better Gas Mileage
While the weather is sunny and warm on Long Island, Congress is on a 5 week vacation from legislating. Congressman Tim Bishop was the deciding vote (213-212) to take a vacation without any energy reform. Low temperatures and high heating bills are just around the corner. To help Long Islanders improve efficiency and reduce their energy costs, Republican and Conservative Party Congressional Candidate Lee Zeldin is hosting a Congressional Energy-Efficiency Fair with concerned citizens, but not in conjunction with the Long Island Petroleum Authority (LIPA).
At the fair, residents can learn not only how to be better consumers, but also how to be better voters. Zeldin's opponent has been very misleading with his votes against increased domestic oil exploration, his analysis of the 68 million acres of federally leased land for drilling oil and natural gas, and more.
Bishop proposed legislation for a natural gas commission the same day that he voted for a 5 week break from legislating. He proposed another piece of legislation at the same time, which obviously hasn't made any progress, because of the break. The bill will remain stuck in committee and will not be voted upon even though he is in the majority party.
Residents will also have an opportunity to talk about how Congressional leadership refuses to allow a vote on the American Energy Act, which is a comprehensive plan to deal with our nation's energy crisis. This bill will reduce our reliance on foreign oil, decrease our foreign trade deficit, and speed up the research and development of alternative sources of energy.
