NOTES: Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death for young people ages 16-24. Governor Paterson and the State Legislature have made reducing the number of teen driving deaths a priority and have asked State Education Commissioner Richard Mills and State Motor Vehicles Commissioner David Swarts to co-chair the Temporary Special Advisory Panel on Driver Education. Their charge is to recommend ways to improve driver education and make driver education instruction more available in the state.
At this forum, a distinguished panel will gather insights and practical ideas from teen drivers, their families and other community members who care about keeping our young people safe on the highways.
