CHESTERTOWN, MD (05/09/2012)(readMedia)-- Washington College is pleased to announce that Melanie E. Mavins '13, daughter of Elaine Mavins of Capitol Heights, MD, recently choreographed and performed dances for the Spring Dance Concert at Washington College. This concert featured student dancers who performed a variety of dances, choreographed almost entirely by students, in Decker Theater in the Gibson Center for the Arts. Mavins choreographed and performed in a contemporary jazz piece entitled, "In Memory of... ." She also danced in several other modern, hip hop, contemporary, and jazz numbers.
Mavins is majoring in Biology with a concentration in Pre-Med and triple minoring in Chemistry, Dance, and Justice, Law, and Society. She is a member of Cleopatra's Sisters, the Black Student Union, Nu Delta Alpha dance honor society, and the Tri Beta biological honor society. Mavins graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School.
