Mercedes-Benz Intensifies Its High-Performance C63 AMG with 'Edition 507'

Special Model to Offer High-End Buyers an Extra Dose of Performance and Style

HAVERHILL, MASS. (02/18/2013)(readMedia)-- With its 451 horsepower, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG already churns out awe-inspiring performance, but this summer high-end-car buyers will be able to take home an even more aggressive version. The recently announced 2014 C63 AMG "Edition 507" will pack in 507 horsepower and sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds, an improvement of three-tenths of a second compared to the current model sold at Mercedes-Benz dealerships.

Using technology from the SLS AMG super sports car, the 6.3-liter V8 engine used in the C63 AMG has been upgraded with forged pistons, new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft to produce the additional 56 horsepower in the "Edition 507." To harness that extra output, the special model has received an even stronger AMG high-performance braking system, and each buyer will be able to learn how to make the most out of their powerful new machine with a complimentary training session at the AMG Driving Academy.

"By taking an existing high-performance model and pumping up its engine even more, the C63 AMG 'Edition 507' will appeal to some of the most dedicated luxury driving enthusiasts on the market," said James Buckley, general manager of Smith Motor Sales, a Mercedes-Benz dealer in Haverhill, Mass. "Not only will buyers get extra thrills when they step down on the pedal, they'll also be able to clearly set themselves apart on the road with exclusive styling."

Outside, the "Edition 507" is differentiated by an aluminum hood pulled from the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series, as well as by new AMG light-alloy forged wheels available in titanium gray or matte black. Meanwhile, a gray AMG sports stripe has been added above the rocker panels, and buyers will have the option of choosing an exclusive designo magno platinum matte finish paintjob. In the cabin, drivers will find even more unique design cues, including red instrument dials and an "Edition 507" trim badge on the front-passenger side.

The C63 AMG is based on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which continues to be the luxury brand's best seller. Last month, the C-Class outsold its main rival, the BMW 3 Series, by 2,383 units in the United States, thanks to its 11 percent sales increase compared to January 2012. Mercedes-Benz's luxury sport sedan moved 7,214 models during the month.

"Whether you're looking at a base-model C-Class or the C63 AMG, you're going to get real luxury-level performance when you get behind the wheel," noted Buckley. "Mercedes-Benz refuses to lean on its reputation to sell its high-volume luxury sedans. Instead, it makes sure that it gets every detail right in every C-Class so that new customers will stick with the brand for a lifetime."
