HAVERHILL, MA (03/14/2011)(readMedia)-- During Oscar week there was a new authority patrolling the streets of Los Angeles and laying down the law of fashion.Trawling the areas around Sunset Boulevard and from Rodeo Drive to Melrose Avenue, the style officers in the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG singled out individuals they identified as "stylesetters." Fashion plates like Linda Wells, editor of Allure Magazine, were stopped by the Mercedes Fashion Force and interrogated, with the chicest of the lot receiving tickets to the Mercedes-Benz Oscar viewing party in West Hollywood, as well as rides in the new coupe.
"It only takes one look at a Mercedes-Benz to realize that the person behind the wheel knows a thing or two about style," said James Buckley, general manager of Massachusetts Mercedes-Benz dealer Smith Mercedes-Benz. "The 2012 CLS 63 AMG is going to be the sleekest four-door coupe on the roads in the coming model year, so it's only fair that the Fashion Force give a nod to those individuals stylish enough to live up to the Mercedes-Benz name."
The Fashion Force's Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG arrived for duty at the Oscars fresh off its debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City. Acclaimed stylist Brad Goreski took a platoon of fashion enforcers and style detectives out to work the beat in the four-door coupe. With the AMG painted to resemble a police cruiser, complete with a badge design and a "Fashion Force" logo emblazoned across the doors, Mercedes-Benz made it clear that they would be the ultimate authority on modern design.
"Cars are a lot like Hollywood actors," Buckley continued. "A pretty face isn't enough; you need to be able to perform too. When New Hampshire and Massachusetts Mercedes buyers test drive a new model at our dealership, they quickly realize there's more than meets the eye with a Mercedes-Benz."
The Fashion Force paddy wagon left nothing to be desired in the performance department. Underneath its decked-out exterior, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG packs a brand new engine, the biturbo AMG V-8, which gives the car a level of power to match its attractive looks. The V-8 bristles with 550 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, even though it is expected to improve fuel economy by an estimated 33% over the 2011 model.
"It's fashion forward where it counts: in looks, in performance and in its ability to roll past the gas pump," Buckley added.
Another recent Mercedes debutante is the 2012 Mercedes C-Class Coupe, revealed at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1.The C-Class Coupe is the heiress of the innovative 2011 C-Class Sedans, renowned for the artistry of their designs and engines that deliver commanding horsepower. With the new C-Class coupe joining the CLS 63 AMG in the showrooms of Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide this September, Mercedes is reopening a chapter in its storied history and reclaiming its place in the auto world as the leading force in automotive style.
