Michael Poulos of Evanston honored by college alma mater

Local attorney to receive Distinguished Alumni Citation

RIPON, WI (06/19/2012)(readMedia)-- Michael D. Poulos of Evanston will be honored with the Distinguished Alumni Citation at Ripon College during its annual alumni awards banquet Friday, June 22. Poulos is a 1977 alumnus of the college, which is located in East Central Wisconsin.

Poulos is a practicing attorney at his own law firm in Evanston, among many other things. As a lawyer, he received widespread media attention for successfully defending two young men, who were beaten by the police and then wrongfully prosecuted. Michael also won the 51st largest tort settlement in Illinois and was featured in Chicago Lawyer Magazine for having accomplished the settlement in less than a year through mediation.

Along with practicing law, Michael and his wife, Suzanne Monroe '75, founded Radio Earth, the international broadcasting service, which is second only to the BBC World News in popularity. He also serves as principal trumpet and assistant conductor for the Chicago Bar Association Symphony Orchestra, which he founded.
