Model Alliance to Commemorate 10-Year Anniversary of Rana Plaza Disaster

Labor Leaders Will Discuss the Continued Fight for Safe Working Conditions in the International Garment Industry

NEW YORK, NY (04/18/2023) (readMedia)-- On Monday, the Model Alliance will commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster – the worst industrial disaster in the history of the garment industry. The collapse of the eight-story Rana Plaza building in Dhaka, Bangladesh killed 1,134 and injured approximately 2,500.

The disaster renewed the struggle to improve workers' rights and ensure safe factories.
In honor of the anniversary, the Model Alliance will show a virtual screening of the short documentary "Tangled Thread" followed by a discussion about progress made over the last decade and the continued fight for safe, dignified working conditions in the international garment industry.
