CHESTERTOWN, MD (02/20/2013)(readMedia)-- Washington College is pleased to announce that Molly Leach '13 of Glens Falls, NY was recently inducted into the Theta of Maryland Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa sheltered at Washington College.
Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest and largest academic honor society, was founded on December 5, 1776, by five students at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA. For more than 200 years, the Phi Beta Kappa Society has pursued its mission of fostering and recognizing excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. The Society's distinctive emblem, a golden key, is widely recognized as a symbol of academic achievement. The pointing finger and three stars on the key symbolize the ambition of scholars and the three distinguishing principles of Phi Beta Kappa: learning, morality and friendship.
Leach is majoring in Hispanic studies and psychology. She is an active member of the Cater Society of Junior Fellows, Psi Chi, Zeta Tau Alpha and Sigma Delta Pi. Leach is also the vice president of Omicron Delta Kappa and serves as a Writing Center consultant. A graduate of Glens Falls High School, Leach was recently accepted by the Spanish Cultural Ambassadors program to teach English in Spain for a year.
