LYNCHBURG, VA (05/11/2012)(readMedia)-- Monica Varner, of Arlington, Virginia, has received Randolph College's coveted alumna-sponsored internship at the Preservation Institute: Nantucket. Varner, a rising junior, will participate in the program this summer.
The support of alumna Lynne Land '60 and her husband A.J. allows Randolph College to offer a student a full scholarship to study historic preservation for eight weeks on Nantucket Island.
The organization was founded in 1972 as a cooperative endeavor between the Florida School of Architecture and the Nantucket community to provide students a unique educational experience a broad spectrum of preservation issues while helping to research and document the historic environment of the island. The eight-week summer program allows students to participate in the documentation of a historic structure on Nantucket Island through research, field study, archival drawings, and photographs.
