BOURBONNAIS, IL (11/07/2013)(readMedia)-- Katharyn Schrader of Monmouth became the 59th Homecoming Queen for Olivet Nazarene University during the coronation ceremony on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Chosen by her peers for this honor, she is a senior and a leader among the student body. She is the daughter of Marshall and Julie Schrader.

An English major, Schrader served as a resident assistant in Williams Hall at Olivet for two years. While at Olivet, she has been a part of Evangels, a student ministry to local nursing homes; Social Justice Club; the Aurora yearbook staff; and Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society. Her goal is to travel overseas as a missionary by teaching English as a second language.

Adrian Calhoun (New Paris, Penn.) was Schrader's escort. A senior and a religious studies major, he is the son of Rev. H. Doyle and Carolyn Calhoun.

Lillian Guenseth of Galesburg, escorted by Matthew Jones (Eureka, Ill.), is a member of the Homecoming Queen's court. She is the daughter of Ted and Judy Guenseth. A senior majoring in vocal performance at Olivet, she has been part of Olivet's Orpheus Choir and is serving as president this year. She has also served as an Admissions Ambassador; sung with Concert Singers; and performed in "Broadway Revue," which she directed this year, as well as three ONU musicals and the 2013 opera production. After graduation, she hopes to continue her education, teach and perform.

Other members of the 2013 Homecoming Court, all seniors and also chosen by their peers, are: Christine Caven (Boise, Idaho), escorted by Benjamin Geeding (Manteno, Ill); Hannah Taylor (Fenton, Mich.), escorted by Kyle Miller (Sesser, Ill.); and Hillary Vaughn (Kankakee, Ill.), escorted by Caleb Carr (Afolkey, Ill.).

Olivet's Homecoming Queen and members of her Court have been honored each year since 1955. The Queen is a senior woman chosen by the student body. She is person of integrity; gives glory to God in her life; helps others feel loved and accepted; and expresses Olivet's academic, social, and spiritual ideals.
