Morningside student receives ISEA Scholarship for Future Teachers

DES MOINES, IA (04/23/2015)(readMedia)-- Iowa State Education Association UniServ Unit Ten Director, Todd Louwagie presented an ISEA Scholarship for Future Teachers to Emily Jobst on Monday, March 23 at Morningside College. Emily is the daughter of Roger and Mary Ann Jobst of Royal. Roger is a retired educator and Mary Ann currently teaches in the Clay Central-Everly School District. Both are ISEA members.

Emily is majoring in Elementary Education with Reading and English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsements and a Social Science emphasis. She is a member of the ISEA Student Program at Morningside College.

"I am thrilled to present the ISEA Scholarship for Future Teachers to Emily," said Todd Louwagie, ISEA UniServ Unit Ten Director. "It is exciting to see young adults entering the field of education. She will be joining a select group of professionals with a deep passion and commitment for helping to change lives for the better. We are proud of Emily and other young adults like her who are entering our profession," added Louwagie.

On hand to present the award was Emily's father, Roger Jobst, Brayton Hagge, a sophmore at Morningside majoring in English Education and president of the Morningside ISEA Student Program, and Shelley Molland, a Morningside instructor in the Education Department and the ISEA Student Program Advisor.

The ISEA offers scholarships to help sons or daughters of association members become teachers. Applicants must be a member of the ISEA/NEA Student Program and have completed 60 semester hours (or equivalent) or they must be considered a junior at the college or university in which they are enrolled.
