Mychal Massie Endorses Lee Zeldin for Congress

MASTIC, NY (04/14/2008)(readMedia)-- The endorsed Republican candidate for New York’s First Congressional District just earned an endorsement for his early campaign from a nationally syndicated columnist and nationally recognized political pundit.

Conservative Mychal Massie endorsed Lee Zeldin, the Republican candidate for Congress in the Eastern Long Island District. “I think Lee Zeldin is the man for a critical time such as this. He is a strong advocate and supporter of conservative causes and principles. He is a man of impeccable character and integrity,” Massie said. “This is only the second time in the public eye that I have said I supported a candidate, and I support Lee Zeldin,” concluded Massie.

The endorsement took place at the Suffolk County Conservative Party Dinner last Thursday night.

Conservative Party Chairman Ed Walsh introduced Massie and stated the following support of Zeldin, “This is an awesome opportunity for the people of Suffolk county and the people across America to have their true voices heard… for the past 6 years our views and American values have been stifled and ignored by our current representative in the First Congressional District in Suffolk County.”

Walsh further stated, “I am honored and proud to stand here today with a true American who believes in and has defended our country.”

Zeldin was encouraged by this early support.

“I’m proud to have served and I’m proud to lead,” said Zeldin. “The same mentality that will push me out of an airplane at the 82nd Airborne Division is the same mentality I will take down to Washington to be a bulldog for my fellow residents rather than a lapdog for a misguided agenda. Long Island’s future begins now.”

Joining Chairman Walsh and Mr. Massie was Suffolk County Republican Party Chairman Harry Withers, New York State Conservative Party Vice Chairman John Andrew Kay, Suffolk County Conservative Party Vice Chairman William Condon, Suffolk County Conservative Party 1st Executive Chairman William Fries, Town of Brookhaven Republican Party Chairman Jesse Garcia, Town of Brookhaven Conservative Party Chairman Richard Johannesen, Town of Southampton Republican Party Chairman Marcus Stinchi, Town of Southold Conservative Party Chairman Dennis Blaikie, Town of Southampton Conservative Party Leader James Malone, Town of Brookhaven Conservative Party Executive Committee Chairman Ken Auerbach, Town of Huntington Conservative Party Chairman Frank Tinari, Town of Babylon Republican Party Chairman Anthony Pancella and other political party officials.

Also on hand were various elected officials including Suffolk County Clerk Judy Pascale, New York State Senator Caesar Trunzo, Suffolk County Legislator Edward Romaine, Town of Brookhaven Councilman Keith Romaine.

Zeldin served as an aide to State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle. The Shirley resident studied at the University at Albany, graduated from Albany Law School, and earned his commission through Army ROTC. He was a paratrooper, prosecutor and magistrate with the 82nd Airborne Division and XVIII Airborne Corps. In the summer of 2006, he was a JAG attorney deployed to Iraq. He is currently an attorney at Raiser & Kenniff on Long Island. Attached is a picture from the endorsement.
