NYAHSA Launches New Web Site for Easy Grass-Roots Advocacy
Site Offers Pre-Written Letters to Legislators on Elderly Issues; Just Click to Send
ALBANY, NY (05/19/2009)(readMedia)-- Everybody wants to be heard, but it isn't always easy to navigate the process of getting your opinion to state lawmakers.
Now there's a new, free Web site that helps the public speak up on legislative issues affecting the elderly in New York.
The site, www.RespectNYseniors.org, features hot-button issues and provides a big "Take Action" button that brings you to a pre-written letter to state Senate and Assembly members based on your ZIP code. It's fast, easy, and zeroes in on the issues that will impact New York state's elderly population. A mouse click sends the letter electronically.
"Grass-roots advocacy is the voice of the people, but we know it can feel overwhelming to figure out how to be heard. So we created www.RespectNYseniors.org so that folks who want to be heard can do it without navigating complicated Web sites, looking up addresses and writing the letters themselves," said Kristen Myers, director of member services for the New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging. "We highlight the issue, and all the public has to do is click."
